HB 494

  • May 2, 2017
HB 494 would allow law-abiding Montanans to carry a firearm for self-defense while patronizing a restaurant where alcohol is not the primary item of sale. An individual should not be prevented from carrying a firearm for self-defense while dining in a restaurant that serves alcohol. The right to self-defense should not be unnecessarily banned due to the presence of a product that is legally sold in an establishment that is licensed to do so.

Last Friday, the Montana Legislature adjourned after rejecting Governor Bullock’s proposed amendments to House Bill 494, the restaurant carry bill. HB 494 was officially transmitted back to the Governor’s desk in its original form today. Please contact Governor Bullock IMMEIDATLEY and strongly urge him to sign HB 494 into law!
